Stack the States is a great application for elementary school students to use when learning about the United States geography. Through fun, interactive games, the app teaches students the shape and size of the states, geographical position, capitals, famous landmarks, and bordering states and countries. The main game of the application asks question about a state's capital, its boarders, or famous landmarks, and then offers four options to choose an answer from. If the answer the student chooses is incorrect, the student will not receive a state to drop down, but it will indicate the correct answer. If the student chooses the right answer, they will receive thatstate to drop down to the platform. There is also a 'capital Drop' option to the App. This provides the student with several capital names and several blank states. The point of the game is to match the state with the correct capital. The trick is that the states and capital names are moving down a conveyer belt. This game is a race against time, and if the student fails to match a pair, the game will be over.
Overall, this app provides a fun way to learn the US geography. Although most facts will be taught in the classroom, a 'Learn' section is featured on the app. This provides the students with the answers to all questions that will be asked throughout the game. It will show the students the location on the US map, capital, landmarks, size, and other facts. Although this application is geared toward elementary school aged students, people of all ages can benefit from it in order to brush up on their US geography and capitals.
